   The New River Grass

       We are the New River Grass bluegrass band. We are located in the New River Valley of Virginia and play shows and events within a 200-mile radius of Pulaski, Virginia. We provide music for festivals, clubs, corporate events, wedding receptions, lodges, fund raisings and any private event that requires good bluegrass music. We are not strangers to bluegrass music.  Our group has a total of over a 100 years combined experience. Our style of playing consists mostly of traditional bluegrass and bluegrass Gospel vocals, including hard driving instrumentals and several old time and traditional fiddle tunes and waltzes.

The New River Community College in Dublin, Va., The White Gate Community Center White Gate, Va. The Floyd Country Store in Floyd, Va., The Moose Lodge in Pulaski, Va., The Barren Springs Fire Department Annual Fish Fry and Fund Raising Event in Barren Springs, Va., The Ponderosa Club in Pulaski, Va., Orchard Gap Market & Deli in Fancy Gap Va., The Rich Creek Community Center in Rich Creek Va. Christopher’s Pizza at The Blue Ridge Passage Resort in Meadows of Dan, Va. and several Private Events, Pig Picking’s, and Weddings in the surrounding areas.

                             Professional Sound !

   We furnish Our own 800 watt Peavey Professional Sound System for Your Special Event.  Our system has proven reliable and is efficient enough for a building size up to a 60 X 80. We use Shure SM 57 mics for our instruments and Shure SM 58 Beta mics for our vocals. For larger areas we use an extra set of RMS Pro Speakers with an additional 600-watt Pyle Amplifier.  Our top of the line Pro Audio System will guarantee your musical event will be a success.

Banjo Lessons by Joey Cox

  From time to time we feature friends who we feel are genuine good people on our website. I have known Joey Cox and his family for years. I remember when he first started learning to play the banjo and he would pick with his family at local community centers and family events. Joey has risen up to be one of the best banjo pickers the east coast has to offer. I would highly recommend Joey as a banjo teacher for anyone who wants to learn how to play the banjo from the very beginner to the advanced. Joey has played with several well know bluegrass bands such as Lou Reid & Carolina, Blueridge, Kenney and Amanda Smith and at the present time with Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver.
